Guanacaste is a province set in the beautiful country of Costa Rica and populated by a cultural people mirroring its pre-Colombian times with their tribal practices.  Once dominated by Nicaragua, the region beats to the tune of its own drum displayed proudly displayed throughout its diverse geographical landscape from the colonial architecture of Liberia, Guanacaste’s urban district to the natural wonders of Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

Guanacaste offers a tropical savanna climate.  Winters (September to November) are typically dry with temperatures averaging from a high in the upper-80s and decreasing to the low-70s at night.  Summers (February to May) are generally warm with the climate fluctuating between the mid-90s and mid-70s.

The region is accessible from the Daniel Oduber International Airport, its very own domestic and international aviation hub.  Once you are here, there are several ways to get around its towns.  Public transportation is available for travelers wanting to rub elbows with locals.  Car rental is also convenient for those wanting to travel in between towns flexibly.
