Meet your steed for the day

Your outing begins with pick-up at your Ixtapa resort in a comfortable and air-conditioned van to the Playa Larga Ranch, just 30 minutes away. There, professional equestrians will inquire about your horseback riding experience and pair you up with the perfect partner. Beginners are welcome and guides will be on hand to assist you on your outing. After a brief lesson and safety countdown, you'll head out for a 1-hour exploration of Playa Larga's palm-lined beaches.Ride along a golden-sand beach

Playa Larga's empty and golden beaches are found in the nearby fishing village of Zihuatanejo, which will give you a less-crowded view of Mexico's Pacific Coast. Your friendly horse will take you across the sandy shoreline, into the coconut palm trees flanking the beach, then returning to the ranch. There, you'll be given a refreshing drink to cool off before transportation returns you to your resort.

• Children must be at least 12 years of age to ride a horse alone
