To help travel agents ensure their clients’ decision to visit Mexico will not be impacted by the influx of sargassum, a company is offering live webcams for Cancun and Riviera Maya beaches that show real-time updates.
According to Riviera Maya News, a company called Webcams de Mexico offers real-time videos of beaches and cities around the nation, allowing concerned travelers to view their destination’s beaches to confirm they are free of sargassum.
For travelers heading to the state of Quintana Roo, officials are controlling the influx of sargassum by placing almost 17 miles of seaweed barriers along the beaches near Playa del Carmen.
The United States also lent a helping hand in August when two sargassum boats were sent to the region to assist in cleanup efforts.
