Riu Playacar
The new Riu Playacar has been entirely re-designed with new restaurants, pools, guest rooms, lobby, wellness center, kids club and free Wi-Fi in public areas. As a guest of the Riu Playacar, you may take advantage of RIU's generous exchange privileges and enjoy the facilities, restaurants, bars, shows and entertainment at the Riu Tequila, Riu Lupita and Riu Yucatan properties adjacent to the resort. Within walking distance or a 5 minute cab ride you will find the charming and eclectic town of Playa del Carmen. Explore the shops on the famous Fifth Avenue, experience the nightlife, or catch a ferry for a day trip to Cozumel from this lively town that is the true hub of the Mayan corridor. With RiuLand, kids ages 4-7 and 8-12 enjoy age-specific entertainment daily, promoting fun learning through outdoor physical activities including group games and sports, cultural games and swimming pool recreation.

Elaborate buffets with show cooking stations offer a wide variety of choices suitable for the whole family. International à la carte dining venues are available for dinner. Outdoor bars offer snacks throughout the day along with your favorite beverages. Live shows and special theme nights are presented nightly.

The Palms
This is the hotels main restaurant, offering elaborate buffets with show cooking stations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. El Porche is air-conditioned, and offers both smoking and non-smoking sections with gorgeous views of the lush grounds. Different theme nights are offered three times a week.
Jade Restaurant
Open nightly for buffet dinner, enjoy a variety of popular Asian specialties. Resort casual dress required.
Traviata
Riu Playacars brand new Italian restaurant.
Restaurant Turquesa
During the day, this is the large pool bar/snack bar - open from 10:30 am to 9:30 pm. At lunch, a great buffet is served with spot cooking stations. After 9:30 pm, Turquesa is transformed into an à la carte specialty restaurant. Enjoy dinner poolside, under the stars. Resort casual dress required for dinner.
Beach Club at Riu Yucatan
A short stroll along the shore at the next door Riu Yucatan beachfront, refuel and refresh all day with your favorite drinks, snacks, sandwiches and salads.
Things to Do
Your days can be as full or as relaxing as you want them to be at the all-inclusive Riu Playacar Resort. In addition to the palm shaded, white-sand beach and two spectacular pools with terraced sunning decks, resort activities include workouts around the pool, beach volleyball, table tennis tournaments, introductory scuba diving lessons and daily entertainment programs for adults and children. A variety of water sports is available on the beach, and windsurfing, catamarans, kayaks, body boards and snorkeling equipment are included for all guests.
Motorized Water Sports
Jet skis, parasailing, diving trips and more may be arranged at the on-site dive shop Scuba Caribe. Located directly on the beach, in the center of the Riu complex.

Important Information
- Additional services including additional decorations, floral arrangements, food and beverages and live music can be added; prices vary.
- The bride and groom and witnesses (if required) need to be in destination at least three full business days prior the wedding for Civil ceremonies and two full business days for Religious ceremony.
- Only the Civil ceremony is legally recognized. A Religious ceremony has no legal bearing and does not replace in any way the binding Civil Marriage. Once the Civil Ceremony is over, the couple receives a copy of the marriage licence and the original is sent within 5 -6 months directly to your home (please note that the Mexican Government can take longer to send these documents). Once the documents are received you should translate them into English and take them to City Hall for legalization.
- Religious ceremonies or Renewal of Vows are symbolic. They are performed by a Non-Denominational Minister. The bride and groom will receive a symbolic marriage certificate without legal bearing.
*Please note that in Mexico Riu does not arrange Catholic ceremonies, a non-denominational minister is used. - Room upgrades are to the next level above your booked room, however upgrades are subject to availability and not guaranteed.
- In order to have a wedding at Riu Hotels & Resorts, the couple and at least 80 percent of the total number of wedding guests must stay at the hotel where the wedding will be performed, otherwise it will be canceled. This is a strict RIU policy.
- Wedding guests not staying at the resort must purchase a Day Pass
