Take an archaeological tour in Xihuacan

Your encounter with history begins with a transfer from your Ixtapa resort to Xihuacan, a newly uncovered archaeological site outside of the tourist area. More than 3,000 years old, the land features ancient structures, including a 45-foot-tall pyramid, a 180-foot-long ball court, and more than 800 figurines, ceramics, vases and artifacts found in the site. Now displayed in a museum, visitors can view the remnants of tribes that roamed the land before Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas.Explore Mexico's indigenous past, then enjoy lunch

Once at Xihuacan, also known as La Soledad de Maciel, expert guides will offer interesting pieces of information about this wonderful place. This archaeological site is believed to have been an important ceremonial site of an indigenous city-state, and you're free to roam its grounds and see its treasures. Another part of this cultural expedition are amazing artifacts and jewelry displayed in the site's museum. After your Xihuacan archaeological excursion, you'll be treated to a traditional lunch in the quaint fishing village of Barra de Potosi before you head back to your resort.
